A Dala horse or Dalecarlian horse is a traditional carved, painted wooden statue of a horse originating in the Swedish province of Dalarna (Dalecarlia). In the old days,[when?] the Dala horse was mostly used as a toy for children; in modern times it has become a symbol of Dalarna, as well as of Sweden in general.
Several types of Dala horses are made with distinguishing features common to the locality of the site where they are produced. One particular style has, however, become much more common and widespread than others. It is stoutly carved and was traditionally painted Iron oxide red at first. Now it is usually reddish orange with details and a harness in white, green, yellow and blue.
History
[edit]The carving of Dala horses as a livelihood is thought to have started in the village of Bergkarlås&#;[sv] in central Sweden, though the nearby "horse" villages of Risa&#;[sv], Vattnäs, and Nusnäs were also centres of horse-making. Hur är det tänkt att det ska funka med rullister? Om man har en med alla tänkbara kombinationer så kommer den att bli lång. VÄLDIGT lång.
Lite frågor och kommentarer:
Silverär ett eget anlag, så det ser i mina ögon lite udda ut att ha silversvart under svarta även om de naturligtvis är svarta. Det finns ju även silverbrun, silvergulsvart, silvergulbrun och de kan även kombineras med skäckar och blackar.
Obs att detta kanske är helt oviktigt egentligen. Det beror ju på hur rullningslisten skall se ut.
Under blacksaknas de "gula" varianterna som har egna namn: vitblack (brun), isabellblack (röd) och gulmusblack (svart). Dessa kan kombineras med skäck, silver o s v.
En avblekbar skimmel kan födas med precis vilken grundfärg som helst.
Vad menar du med skimlarna som står ovanför de avblekbara? En flugskimmel är en avblekbar skimmel. En konstantskimmel är t ex röd konstantskimmel etc. Även dessa kan ha vilken grundfärg som helst.
Under de gulafinns bara en av de dubbelgula varianterna - cremello. De två andra är på engelska perlino och smokey creme (?). Vet inte om de tidigare svenska namnen gulvit, pärlvit
